In 1981, my long-time friend and musical companion, John Sheridan, helped me build a recording studio. It was there that we created music together and formed our fourth band, Honest Sam. The name "Honest Sam" came from a Paul Seibel song of the same name about a notorious gambler. Some of the songs written for the band were, therefore, songs about gambling, which were metaphors for love and relationships.
My then little brother, True, was blossoming nicely into a fine keyboardist. We recruited him as both bass player and keyboard player for the band. He played a bass synthesizer with one hand, while playing a Yamaha synthesizer with the other, while singing third-part harmony. John played drums and sang harmony vocals, and I played electric guitar and sang lead vocals. This enabled us to play as a trio with the sound of a full band.
...It was a relatively short-lived musical sojourn.
